18th Century Fashion Mannequin, In French Dress, Circa 1770….

Louis XVI period fashion mannequin circa 1770, 85 cm tall; a model that allowed milliners at their clients' homes, at the Queen's court for example, to dress their offerings on the spot.
A mannequin like this one, dressed on the spot according to the offers and choices of the clients, made it possible to choose and order luxury dresses, for indoor or reception, for going out or city, veils and coats, essential accessories ribbons, braids, without forgetting extraordinary hairstyles, and hats.
These mannequins allowed Ladies to make the best choice according to their feminine taste by adapting to the constraints of their rank.
Milliners like Rose Bertin, merchants of luxury fabrics, fashion accessories like Catherine Lenoir, all responded to the requirements of their clients. Mannequin: Dressed in a French-style dress enhanced with a wide gold thread braid around the waist, in a large knot at the top of the bust and falling on the front of the bust
. - the left hand: must have held a mirror (the location remains)
- the right hand holds a small white falling fabric
. - the body is made of wood (very heavy) without feet or shoes (without trace).

Dimensions:
Height: 85 cm;
Width of open arms: 64 cm.
Good condition, despite being more than 240 years old, while noting:
- complete dress but marked by its age,
- small color losses on the face and left hand,
- partial lack of shape of fingers on the right hand.
