Important Carved Oak Candlestick Or Lectern Base From The Regency Period, Early 18th Century

Magnificent and large carved oak base from the Regency period.
It is either a base for a candlestick or torchiere, or a base for a lectern.
Very rich and deep carving made from a single piece of oak wood, monoxyl wood.
Tripod base carved with cartouches, garlands of flowers and acanthus clasps.
Baluster shaft with gadroons and acanthus leaves ending in 3 cherub heads between garlands of falling acanthus flowers.
The former owners used it as a candlestick.
One side is formerly split because it is made from a single piece of wood. Beautiful old patina.
We are in the presence of an object of rare quality of sculpture and of very great decorative appeal.
Regency period, early 18th century.
