Pin box, rectangular in shape, lid with dome for pincushion, carved and engraved, from Sainte Lucie wood, Louis XIV period, Nancy region, (Bagard, famous sculptor, had set up a workshop there.)

Excellent condition, slight gaping of lid left front corner. The box closes well.
Beautiful color and patina.
The name "Bois de Sainte-Lucie" Prunus mahaleb finds its origin in a convent of Minimes, Sainte-Lucie-du-Mont, located on the heights of Sampigny (Meuse) where developed in the 17th century, a craft of religious objects made in the wood of this species that was found abundantly around the convent.
