An Indo-Persian shamshir saber - Northern India or Central Asia, 18th-19th century Handle made of two plates of bovine horn with gold damascened steel elements (koftgari). Curved single-edged shamshir-type blade, forged from superb damascened steel (wootz). Scabbard made of two wooden splints covered with green velvet and a silver rivet. The guard has a slight play. A chip at the bottom of one of the plates. Some scratches and oxidation spots on the blade. Scabbard split over 27cm on one side. Length 94cm Length without scabbard 93cm Blade length 79cm Weight 842gr Weight without scabbard 658gr
