North African dagger - Algeria or Morocco, 19th century. Honey-colored blond horn handle with a chiseled ferrule and brass guard. Double-edged steel blade with a maker's mark on the ricasso of one side. The mark is a serrated oval type, very common on Algerian and Moroccan knife blades in the 19th century, most likely imitating European cutlers' marks found on imported blades from the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries. Wooden sheath covered in morocco leather. Fairly good condition, no play in the blade. Length 30cm. Length without sheath 28cm. Blade length 18cm. Weight 155g. Weight without sheath 132g.
