Ceremonial Paddle From The Ra'ivavae Islands Before 1846

Used as a dance paddle during ceremonies and an emblem of power reserved for chiefs intended to symbolically direct the canoe or the group. A rare example carved from dense wood using archaic tools, it is in perfect condition and features tiki heads on its upper part. Very beautiful patina.
