A painter of the French school of the 20th century, he has been a figure since 1928 at the Salon des Indépendants.
A close friend of Dunoyer de Segonzac, Gilardoni undertook a trip to the Far East in 1913 which would have a profound influence on his career.
His works illustrate his interest in daily life and local cultures, and demonstrate his particular attention to detail and the authenticity of the scenes represented.
