Very beautiful Limoges porcelain vase by Marcel Chaufriasse.
Little is known about this Limoges decorator.
Some sources (Artprice) say he was born in the 19th century and died in the 20th century without further details. We sometimes find two dates attached to his name (1926 - 1990) which seem to be his dates of activity, the last one probably being that of his death.
In any case, this rather prolific Limoges artist left us works of great quality, some of which using the "paste on paste" technique have nothing to envy to the productions of Camille Tharaud and others with floral decoration in shades of blue which seem to equal those of the master.
This vase of great finesse is the perfect illustration.
It belongs to a series stamped "oven blue", but in reality only the top of the vase corresponds to the name.
The ovoid body is a clever gradient of blue, going imperceptibly from top to bottom, from oven blue to medium blue, dotted with deep blue foliage and all decorated with blooming roses and monochrome foliage. The neck and base are circled in gold.
This vase is in perfect condition without cracks or breaks and has a very beautiful shine that even makes taking photos difficult !
You will love this delicate piece and will put it alone on a stand or mix it with pieces by Camille Tharaud that will not overshadow
it !
