Oil on canvas : 35,8 X 46,1 cm
Signed and stamped with a thumb print bottom left
On the backside of the canvas is also the same fingerprint with four cardinal signs “A”, “T”, “M” and “II”
The last sign must be the date, referring to 1911

Millar was introduced in painting in the USA, but he studied under two famous painters in Paris: Henri Martin and the excellent portrait painter Giovanni Boldini. From Paris he regularly visited Algiers, he made its bazaar his favourite subject. He returned to the US aged almost 40.
Millar and his wife were killed by a train in 1913 while crossing the railway tracks.
