Son of the painter Xavier Alphonse Monchablon (1835-1907), student of Jules Lefebvre and Tony Robert-Fleury at the Beaux-Arts in Paris, he won the Prix de Rome in 1903 and a first medal at the Paris Salon. He was above all a portrait painter and history painter. Henry Peyre de Bétouzet has a degree in philosophy and law, a translator, writer and poet.
