Oil on canvas inspired by a painting made in 1865 by the painter Francisco Sans Cabot (Barcelona, 1828-Madrid, 1881) kept at the National Art Museum of Catalonia (catalogue number 010618-000; according to other sources, it is in the Palace of the General Captaincy of Barcelona) and represents General Prim (Juan Prim y Prats, Reus, 1814-Madrid, 1870) second of the Catalan volunteers and the Alba de Tormes battalion, crossing the trenches of the Tetouan camp in 1860, as part of the African War or First Moroccan War (1859-1860). -
