Eight-light chandelier in gilt bronze and clear glass. The upper part features a series of curved rods from which glass beads of various shapes (flower, teardrop) hang. The central axis of the chandelier (made of metal and covered with abundantly curved glass) features a central piece of bronze and glass beads (very common in mid-19th-century French chandeliers and those in the Louis XVI style). From all the elements of the piece hang a large number of glass beads of various shapes (circular, flower, teardrop, oval, etc.). The Baccarat Company (which continues to manufacture luxury glass objects in this French city) was originally a glassworks founded by Louis-Joseph de Laval Montmorency, with the authorization of Louis XV of France, in 1764. They received the first official order from royalty in 1823, which led to a large number of petitions addressed to members of European royal families, the nobility, heads of state, etc. Around 1860, the company began to sign its products with a registered trademark, usually inscribed in the base of the item, although it was also common for other bronze makers to use Baccarat glass due to its fame and quality.
