Chest Top In Fez Embroidery And Camaieu Of Red - Morocco Late 19th Century
Circa 1880-1900 Morocco A chest cover in Fez embroidery in several shades of red dating from the Belle Epoque. Very fine embroidery in red silk thread on cream cotton in a range of red, from burgundy to scarlet red, and from Fuschia to coral!. The decoration is dense with nested diamonds of the Arab-Andalusian type reminiscent of the moucharabieh. Complete piece embroidered on a single piece of cotton, and finished with fringes knotted with original pompoms on the four sides. Its function was intended to cover a chest or a table. Beautiful Moroccan art object! No defects. Note that I have rarely had in my hands Fez embroidery of this quality. Excellent condition of color and conservation. Dimensions: length 120 cm by 100 cm wide.
