Washbasin. Stone. 18th Century.
Washbasin. Stone. 18th century.
Stone basin or tub with three straight walls inside and out and one of the smaller ones inclined inwards (one side used for washing clothes thanks to this shape). On the other side, towards the bottom, there is a hole to facilitate emptying. This type of piece was very common until the widespread introduction of washing machines and running water in homes, especially those where there are no decorative elements, as is the case here. Furthermore, being a totally utilitarian element, its shape and material have hardly changed over the centuries. -
