Vellutini Pierre born in 1921 in southern Corsica, died in Paris in 2008. After the war he began studying at the School of Fine Arts in Paris with Buffet and César as classmates. He then moved to the "Bateau Lavoir" and began exhibiting during this period. He confirmed his great qualities in the treatment of Corsican landscapes. A major retrospective at the Fesch Museum in 1998, this painter held an important place among Corsican artists of the second half of the 20th century, while participating in the adventure of Modern art. "Over the years and productions, this painter has worked on a progressive stripping down of his mode of expression. As proof, his blues, his ochres, his soft grays tenuous on the edge of evanescence." excerpt from the history of painting in Corsica. Pierre Claude Giansily. Watercolor signed lower right
