gouache by Alphonse Koumou Kibat representing a market scene, dated and signed lower right with the mention PPP (Peintre de Poto Poto) Alphonse Koumou Kibat is the son of Nicolas Ondougou, one of the founding painters of the Poto Ponto School in Congo Brazzaville and one of the directors of this school from 1960. founded in 1951, "the Atelier d'Art de Poto Poto", in Brazzaville took its definitive name of "Ecole de peinture de Potot Poto" in 1964 under the impetus of Léopold Sedar Senghor. The works of the artists of this school (still active) are present in the collections of many museums of contemporary and African art, including the Musée du Quai Branly Jacques Chirac and the Musée d'Art Contemporain Georges Pompidou. We present this work in a custom frame made by the framing artist Patrick Lonza.
