1970s re-edition of the death mask of Emperor Napoleon I, created by Dr. François Antommarchie, one of the Emperor's 3 official physicians at Sainte Héléne.
This mask is the mortuary imprint of Napoleon's body, created shortly after his death in 1821.
There are several versions of the Emperor's mask, but the so-called "Antommarchi mask" is the official version, originating from Malmaison, the Louvre museum and the Musée de l'Armée have original copies.
our mask was re-edited by the Louvre in the 70's and acquired by a collector. it bears the museum stamp on the inside.
