Meissen porcelain figurine from the series Les cris de Paris, Pastry saleswoman (Gebäckverkäuferin). Model created by Peter Reinicke around 1753-1754. Marked with blue crossed swords and numbered 13, 20th century, height: 13.5cm. Listed in the Meissen Bergmann catalog.

History of the cris de Paris The criage appears there as a public service placed under the dependence of the royal authority. Men, women or children wandered in the streets and shouted their goods or their services to attract customers. Each trade had its own characteristic cry. Meissen was inspired by these trades and created a series of 34 figurines with his characters.
