Small two-part cabinet, in walnut and marble inlays from Ile de France, second school of Fontainebleau, late 16th century. With refined Bellifontain decorations. Inspired by ancient architecture, subjects from mythology as well as allegorical themes. Two-part structure, with two doors between fluted columns, enclosing on each side, those female musicians sculpted in relief. This piece of furniture - cabinet is characterized by the quality of its walnut wood, its richness of ornamentation, the harmony of its proportions, and the polychrome effects produced by the veined marble inlays. Summit of French art, this cabinet represents by the refinement of the decoration and the rigor of the proportions the extraordinary vitality of the Bellifontain workshops of the second French Renaissance.
