Ath 1784, Louis XVI Oil Cruet, Solid Silver, Master Of The Unicorn
Very elegant Louis XVI period oil cruet in solid silver with two bottles and their matching stoppers in good condition. The oil cruet is abundantly decorated with everything that the neoclassical register contains: laurel garlands, ribbons, ram's heads, etc. Each basket is hallmarked with the four usual Athois hallmarks, coat of arms of Hainaut and perron with cross for the city, vintage 84 for the year and unicorn's head for the goldsmith who is listed but so far not identified like many other Athois goldsmiths. Weight 515 grams.
