Emile Josome Hodinos born in Paris (1853-1905) whose real name was: Joseph Ernest Ménétrier. He did his apprenticeship at the Tasset workshop renowned for its official medals under the 3rd Republic. He also took drawing and modeling lessons at the Beaux-Arts. But very quickly, madness took over. He was interned at the age of 23 for manic excitement at the Ville-Evrard asylum. He never came out. He ended up taking up drawing again, but under the pseudonym of Emile Josome Hodinos. He therefore drew mainly representations of medals as well as a woman, naked and or dressed in a transparent veil. He died at the age of 52. Subsequently, he was discovered by Jean Dubuffet and today, he is considered one of the classics of art brut. Present in major collections, notably that of art brut in Lausanne. Indian ink drawing on paper recto/verso. Front: a naked woman, dressed in a transparent veil surmounted by an inscription "ENFONCAGES". Back: Representation of a medal and a text or rather a succession of words. At the top left a glued paper. See photos. A fold and a small lack at the bottom left. See photos No stains. On the back, the drawing is held by strips of thin paper. I did not see a signature. Dimensions: 10.5 cm x 16.5 cm Total: 24.2 cm x 30 cm YOU WILL FIND THREE OTHER DRAWINGS BY THE SAME ARTIST IN MY GALLERY.
