Rare pair of gilded and patinated chased bronze candlesticks, the shaft in Egyptian terms decorated with mythological attributes, topped with a vase flanked by lion-headed rostra and resting on a round base. (Slight wear from use). H.: 29.5 cm. Empire period. These elegant candlesticks are of a particularly rare sheath model, they can be compared to the one illustrated in Jonathan Bourne and Vanessa Brett, l'Art du luminaire, Flammarion, Paris 1991, ill.494.
