Peter Colfs, born in Antwerp in 1906 and died in 1983, is a painter and creator of Belgian tapestries. He trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp from 1923 to 1931. From 1936, he taught there. Godecharle Prize in 1931. Prix de Rome in 1933. He mainly painted portraits, still lifes, urban landscapes and allegorical figures. He also made tapestry cartoons. His most famous work is a tapestry, The Triumph of Peace, offered in 1954 to the UN by the Belgian government. He is also known for his murals at various world fairs and his decoration of ocean liners.
