18th Century, Italian Rococo Elm Wood Console Table
This console table was made in Northern Italy during the Barocchetto period, in the mid-18th century. It features a sinuous and undulating top on the front and sides, veneered in elm burl, with a central rectangular frame inlaid with dark wood. The apron, also veneered in elm burl, is curved and has a front drawer with a wooden pull. It is surrounded by a solid elm wood border that follows the shape of the apron. The four legs are made of solid elm wood, curved and undulating, ending in scroll feet.
