Pair Of Gilt Bronze Candlesticks After François Rémond.
Rare pair of gilt bronze torches from the second third of the 19th century according to the model attributed to François Rémond (1747-1812).the barrel with a pattern of three backed female terms resting on a circular base adorned with a frieze of rose windows in an interlacing.
Influenced by Louis XV, this model created and produced from 1780 by François Rémond is inspired by the work of Robert-Joseph Auguste (1723-1805), who developed the neoclassical in silverware.These candlesticks are comparable to a pair of candlesticks made in 1775 by Augustus for King Gustav III of Sweden, and now kept at the Metropolitan Museum in New York.Robert-Joseph Auguste obtained his entry into the corporation of goldsmiths in December 1756, by order of the council of King Louis XV and deposited his hallmark in January 1757. He was appointed silversmith to King Louis XVI on March 23, 1775.
