HOLY OIL BOX in rectangular pewter, domed lid topped with a trefoil cross supported by two volutes; it rests on four palmette-shaped feet and is decorated with human masks with foliage scrolls.
Dimensions: 13.5 x 6.5 x 12 cm.
LYON (?), second half of the 16th century
The bottles are missing, but this object is extremely rare and early in its period, known in only a few examples, one of which is reproduced in "Schönes Zinn" by Ludwig Mory, pl.46
