Cylindrical stoneware mug decorated with red and ochre bands separated by two hoops. The pewter lid with gadroons and rosette is dated 1731 and fitted with an ovoid thumb; it bears a master's mark from the Leipzig region not identified by Erwin Hintze.
Height: 23.5 cm.
SAXONY, (Rochlitz?), mid-18th century

Rare model in perfect condition
The earthenware makers entrusted the manufacture of accessories to pewter potters, generally local, who often affixed their mark. The latter thus helps to confirm the place and the dating of the earthenware maker's activity.
