Orientalist Terracotta Bust By Friedrich Goldscheider On Blackened Wood Pedestal

Friedrich Goldscheider (1845-1897) magnificent, richly worked Orientalist terracotta bust of a woman. The stamp dates this sculpture to circa 1888 / 1890. The sculpture bears the Goldscheider Wien stamp and the reproduction reserve stamp on the back. The model is also numbered: n°654 and II.

Condition: very good, given its fragility. One flower petal missing at bottom, 1 leaf missing.
2 petals on the hat may be broken or less well finished, as the sculptor may have felt it unnecessary to finish them perfectly.
