18th Century Domestic Scene - Oil On Panel

A finely painted interior scene depicting children feeding a caged bird with their mother and a servant. Painted in a style typical of the period, domestic scenes such as this were extremely popular, showing the quiet intimacy of family life. The style is reminiscent of Antoine Watteau and William Hogarth. There is exceptional delicacy in the attention to detail and texture, such as the mother's silk dress and the textile hanging on the table. This masterpiece was probably painted between 1740 and 1790 by a French or Flemish artist.
