Antique Large Meissen Porcelain Cenerpiece

ROYAL MANUFACTORY OF MEISSEN
A monumental hard-paste porcelain centrepiece, with rich polychrome enamelled decoration and highlights of brilliant gold.
It consists of two detachable parts:
The upper basket: A large oval bowl with a deeply openwork rim featuring latticework and reticulated window motifs, with a fluted base. The scalloped and festooned gold rim is adorned with a garland of lifelike flowers modelled in very high relief (roses, peonies, cornflowers).
The figurative base: A central shaft in the form of a truncated column, encircled by flowering stems in relief and crowned with large green acanthus leaves. The base of the shaft is enlivened by three putti modelled in the round: one draped in a purple cloak (Winter), the second drinking from a cup and holding a ewer (Autumn or Taste), and the third wiping away his tears beside a bird (Spring or Hearing).
The piece stands on a tripod pedestal with large rocaille scrolls and cantilevered legs, decorated with garlands of flowers in relief and small hand-painted cartouches featuring miniature bouquets.
Marked with crossed swords in blue, concealed beneath the base.

A few small chips on some of the flowers; no restoration; no major damage; no cracks.
