Object description :

"Tumi Warrior - Mochica, Peru"
Ceremonial tumi, it presents a standing warrior lord holding a shield and a club spear in his hands. His important rank is attested by his rich ceremonial finery, a double-row necklace, tambas on the ears and a crown with a marine motif and owl head. The eyes are inlaid with turquoise and onyx, the gaze is intense and timeless. This work of very fine workmanship gives us many clues. The tentacles of the octopus evoke a clan chief of the coastal regions. The owl is associated with the moon. It is appreciated by shamans and warriors for its ability to see in the dark and pounce on its prey with efficiency. All of these elements evoke a warrior chief of the coastal regions invested with the power of his people and the strength of the Gods.
