His name is Salvatore MELANI; born in 1902, he died in 1934. There are various sculptures of his in plaster, bronze and chryselephantine; his style is quite that of the interwar period with athletic bodies inspiring modernity and confidence in the technological and industrial future of that time. Plaster motifs like this one were produced in large numbers to popularize the Art Deco spirit that inspired the artists of that time.
