Animated Idiophone Of An Ibis - Ancient Kingdom Of Benin, Nigeria - 19th Century
An IDIOPHONE featuring an IBIS, a mythological bird resting on a hollowed-out, perforated cylindrical column, is used for the annual Ugie Oro ceremony. The sound was obtained by striking a stick on the beak of the avian figure.
