Inscribed on the back "Thomson English school 19th century". Follower of Henry Thomson. Henry Thomson, or Thompson, was an English painter born in Portsea in 1773 and died in 1843. He worked in Paris before the Revolution then was a student of Opie in London. He began at the Royal Academy in 1800.
