Very Large Elements Of Woodwork, Winged Angels, Flanders, 17th C.
Pair of very large woodwork elements (height 2.22m) representing the heads of winged angels at the top, surmounting scroll motifs and garlands of descending flowers. No doubt formerly part of an organ case, or on either side of an altar or an altarpiece, their size is exceptional and the quality of the sculpture is there. Difference in oak colors, one a little redder than the other, supported here by the light directed for the photo. Rare in these dimensions. Flanders, or maybe northern France? , 17th century.
