Bactrian civilization, 3rd to 2nd century BCE. Rare and superb bronze dagger, with very elaborate relief decoration representing a seated deity (Gilgamesh?) at the end of the hilt and a lying chimera in the middle. Beautiful green and red crusty patina. This fine quality creation shows a deep Mesopotamian aesthetic influence.
Length 29.8 cm. The scale indicator in the last photograph is a small model of a lighter from a brand known to everyone.
Good state of conservation.
