Porcelain Box With Seaside Landscape Decoration, Grand Siècle.
Beautiful rectangular beveled box in painted porcelain: on the lid, a decoration of characters in period costume busy with various tasks near anchored ships. View of a harbor or estuary opening onto the sea. Polychrome with bright and fresh colors; on the sides, interlacing patterns and scattered flowers, as well as on the back of the box. Gilded brass clasp (some wear and oxidation, but opens and closes). No workshop mark. Early 19th century work. No chips or restorations (3 small hairlines visible on the inside of the lid).
