Reliquary, Tournai, Around 1750, St.-luc, St.-andré, St.-pierre, St.-jacques Min., St.-marc,…
Extremely rare reliquary from the Louis XV period, containing an illuminated and openwork cardboard enriched with seven relics. His goldsmith is Ghislain Sailly, admitted to the master's degree in the town of Tournai in 1746. We know of a few dozen of his works which are mainly preserved in church treasures. His predilection for religious goldsmithing and the attributes used in his master's mark suggest that he was in his time a member of the Franciscan Third Order. The medallion contains a small box richly decorated with the double-headed eagle of the emperors of Austria containing no less than seven relics including: Saint-John-Baptiste Saint-Luc Saint-Marc Saint-Peter, Saint-André Saint-Jacques Minor
