Oil painting on canvas from the 18th century Flemish School Represents a burned building in a Flemish town, we can see firefighters rescuing the trapped inhabitants in front of a crowd gathered around the fire. The chiaroscuro work is mastered, and adds to the drama of the scene. The composition crushes the people represented at the bottom of the painting while the contrasting flames and night dominate most of the composition. The painting has been re-canvased, the pictorial surface has some cracks. Dimensions 78 x 62 x 5 cm with the frame 60 x 45 cm without the frame Modern 20th century frame (free with the painting)
