Tripod "Jue" Cup, China, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).
This cup replicates the shape and motifs of the Jue ewers of the Shang Dynasty.
Resting on three blade-shaped feet, the body is decorated with archaic taotie masks and archaic friezes.
The handle is adorned with a bovine head on one side.
An inscription is visible in relief beneath the handle.
Bronze with a black patina oxidized to green.
Dimensions: 18 x 17 x 8 cm.
A piece is missing from the tip of the spout.
