Spearhead - China - Han Dynasty?
Spearhead
China, Han dynasty ?
Bronze
H. 34.5; L 7.5 cm
A foliate bronze spearhead, with a semi-plastic anthropomorphic Janus head in relief at the base and on both sides - two semi-circular openwork protrusions refer to the figure's ears. The median edge of the broad, double-edged blade is centred on a triangular incised decoration entirely filled with sinuous braided lines: they rise to form a large head of hair.
