The unique rudentėe grooved sheath base allows this pair of armchairs to be attributed without any possible doubt to the Nîmes carpenter Pierre Nicolas PILLOT. : Trained by the master carpenter Nicolas Foliot, he moved to Nîmes in 1776 and obtained his master's degree in 1780.
