Important high-fire earthenware inkwell that has retained its central lid and its two engraved tin side inkwells. (A fretel previously changed). Astonishing irreverent decoration representing a character urinating from behind framed by feathers crossed with knives (several meanings come to mind), the whole surrounded by birds and insects. Pretty border of scrolls on the four sides. Some chips and enamel chips mainly in the corners. Period 18th century probably South of France.
