About the artist: Helena van Borselen was born in The Hague, eldest daughter by landscape painter Jan Willem van Borselen. During the years she grew up, she was very popular with the artistic and buying public of The Hague. Helena became a worthy painter of portraits and still lifes of flowers and fruits. Between 1887 and 1896 in particular, she regularly participated in exhibitions.
