"Contemplation Of Fernando Vichi"
Very beautiful marble sculpture by F. Vichi. one finger has been glued back on, the rest of the statue is in perfect condition.

Ferdinando Vichi was born in Florence in 1875 and died there in 1941. He was a well-known and highly regarded sculptor who created many works of art, including busts and tombstones.
Ferdinando Vichi was a central figure in Florentine sculpture production in the late 19th century. He is associated with sculptors Cesare Lapini, Pietro Bazzanti and Guglielmo Pugi, all of whom executed works at Galleria Bazzanti. The gallery, originally Bazzanti's studio, was opened in 1822 and is still open today. His compositions are varied in their subjects, ranging from busts from Antiquity to orientalist themes and models inspired by the Renaissance.
Like many other sculptors of the late 19th century, Vichi often drew inspiration from classical antiquity. Historicized Romantic subjects were very popular in late 19th-century Italian sculpture.
