Unique pair of Italian hand-carved caryatids, dating back to 1600 circa, almost 83 inches 210 cm high, this antique pair of dark patina Renaissance sculptures comes from a choral ensemble, used as partitions between the stalls. The two bas-relief figures have long hair,  hold Ionic capital on their heads.  A drapery  and scrolls  connect the figures to the carved pilaster. The caryatid is a female figure as a support architectural element, with a decorative function of architraves, balustrades, balconies, shelves. The caryatid was also widely used in the decoration of furniture, sometimes completely detached from its supporting functions, only for ornamental motifs purpose.
