Object description :

"Jesus With His Wife And The Sons Of Zebedee (the Apostles John And James ) 17th Century."
Jesus with his wife and the sons of Zebedee (the Apostles John and James )| oil on canvas painting of the Ligurian school (?) from the end of the 17th century.

The painting depicts two points of light, in the foreground the figure of Jesus offering the chalice, while a light breach defines a landscape on high ground that forms the background to the religious scene. The landscape prevails in the space of the painting with even the presence of ruins, but the scene with the figures remains in full view. Re-painted in good state of preservation, size 56x40 canvas, 75x59 with frame

"Grant us to sit in your glory one on your right and one on your left. Jesus said to them: "You do not know what you ask. Can you drink the cup that I drink, or receive the baptism with which I am baptised?" They answered him, "We can." And Jesus said: "The cup that I drink you will also drink, and the baptism that I receive you will also receive.  But to sit at my right hand or at my left is not for me to grant; it is for those for whom it has been prepared."
