"Hunting Scene.. The Setter Pose... Magnificent Frame"
I have not mentioned the name of the artist although this painting was originally a creation by Jean Baptiste Oudry. I didn't write 18th century either because it's an anonymous painting made by a very, very gifted copyist. . I researched at length the similarities and differences with other depictions of this scene; .... come closer and take a good look at the collar ring of the red setter, it's not the same... Well that said the large frame is remarkable, classic Kitch style, we like it or not... me I love it, the whole thing is coherent. It looks like a “very Victorian” English hunting scene but then the painter was inspired by a painting by William Oudry??? the measurements of the canvas are 31x77 cm, with the frame 61x87
