Inclusion Bioplastique Paris Pierre Giraudon.
Pierre Giraudon, born in Paris in 1923
Giraudon studied botany, not art or design, and always considered himself a biologist rather than an artist.
After moving to Canada in 1949, he discovered a unique way of integrating plants and animals into translucent resin blocks as part of his university research, while working at the Biological Institute in Montreal.
Bioplastics was born.
Back in France, Giraudon began to play with this new material, diverting it from its original function, creating resin pieces with or without ingredients inside, fashioning horse heads, hands and coffee tables. His growing reputation earned him prestigious commissions for one-off pieces for fashion houses such as Dior and Hermès, as well as for other artists such as Arman, Dali and César.
