Beautiful little Christ, Folk Art, Wood and gilded pewter, 25cm x 11 cm.Light and very decorative, these Crucifixes were distributed as hawkers in the most remote places.
Origin: often considered Alsatian, from 18th to beginning of 19th century.
Ours is made of black wood and paper, partially coated with red polish. Openwork and gilded pewter lace is almost complete (spear points are missing) and nailed on wood, as for Christ.
Popular decoration with instruments of Passion quite finely made and gilt. Wood is a little crooked....
